THE ADDERSTONE
HISTORY
In the depths of the Great Atlantic Ocean, little rocks develop into unique pendants. Depending on what caused this natural hole; weathering, mussels, corns of sand – this process could take up to millions of years!
A stone with a hole is also called adderstone, hwolkow, hag stone or Glain Neidr. In Germany they are called Hühnergötter.
MY ADDERSTONE
HISTORY
I have been collecting stones with holes all my life. To me, finding these stones equals peaceful concentration. On top of a pile of rocks, overlooking the ocean, it’s the only time I feel truly mindful. I cannot pass a beach without searching, finding and collecting these stones with holes.
THE ADDERSTONE
MYSTERY
Stones with holes were believed to have magical powers such as protection against eye diseases or evil charms, preventing nightmares, curing whooping cough, the ability to see through fairy or witch disguises and traps if looked at through the middle of the stone, and recovery from snakebite. According to popular conception, a true adder stone will float in water. Mine do not come with that guarantee...
When you purchase a HOLE LOT OF STONE item, 10% of the price is donated to the organisation
